After having dedicated the early stages of his career to establishing himself as a fashion designer and creative director, Brooklyn/Long Island native J.U.S.T is finally digging his heels into his music career. Approaching the R&B scene through the lens with which he is most familiar, today J.U.S.T has released A NY LOVE STORY, an 8-track EP and the first installment of a series of ongoing visual-audio capsule collections.
J.U.S.T offers A NY LOVE STORY as a glimpse into his journey as he comes into his own as an artist. The song lyrics are both intimate and vulnerable, reading like stream of consciousness entries in a personal journal. The project highlights and explores common themes of the come-up process — loyalty, staying the same, strained relationships, chasing goals, uncertainty, and finding love.
Although this EP is his first cohesive body of work, J.U.S.T has already landed on a consistent artist sound, which he describes as “daydream music.” Inspired by the likes of PARTYNEXTDOOR, Brent Faiyaz, Drake, and Tory Lanez, J.U.S.T has found the perfect amount of autotune to complement his sleepy-crooner delivery style. With a solid beat selection full of dreamy echoes and reverb, smooth acoustic instruments, and signature modern R&B hi-hats, A NY LOVE STORY is the perfect summertime project to blast in the car on a late-night drive home.
