The myth of the other half

Photography by Chris Cook

According to Greek mythology, humans were originally created with four arms, four legs, and two faces. Zeus feared their power and ordered his son Apollo to split them into two, condemning them to search for their other half for the rest of their lives.

“Love is born into every human being; it calls back the halves of our original nature together; it tries to make one out of two and heal the wound of human nature.” — Plato, The Symposium
